Wollensky Grill:
Marsha, Marsha, Marsha! Poor Wollensky’s Grill is overshadowed by the Smith & Wollensky steakhouse next door, as they are connected and share everything but the fame. The grill is the place where those who can’t get seated next door come and pound a few lagers, chomp some ribs, or feast on the celebrated burgers. The selling point is surf and turf, although the menu from next door is also available upon request. The beer selection is decent but not stellar (four on tap, seven in bottles). If you show your face often enough, and of course drop a few frogskins on the bar, they’ll make a special nameplate and enshrine you (on either the wall or bar) as one of their favorites.
Overall I have found Shecky's reviews to be fairly accurate. But on the Grill you are way off. First, no one who goes here cares about "getting in" next door. This is the place for folks from the nab and locals. The best Staff in town and the best Ribeye in NYC. If you can't have a good time at the Grill, you had better check your pulse. I suspect a twentysomething reviewer who felt out of their element.
