This spanking-new smart-pub has the locals of Prospect Heights coming into the Woodwork...at least the ones who don't (incorrectly) mistake its clean lines and candlelight aesthetic for an exclusive, expensive upstart. Instead, this place is a marvel of grassroots integrity. One co-owner built all of the beautiful, dark woodworking and interiors himself, and another thoughtfully cooks succulent, organic small plates from the tiny, corn-free kitchen (something about an ‘intellectual corn allergy’). Sound pretentious? Forget it, the $3 Red Stripes or High Lifes "work" just fine. For the rest of you, $8 Smoked Marzen or Lindemann’s Framboise "wood" be the way to go. Plus, this place is also a soccer bar! So you other football fans can always catch the match on one of many flat-screens nestled—where else?—in the woodwork.
