Xicala: Bigger is better? Not always. This Tom Cruise-sized bar offers a unique house blend of strawberry and peach sangrias, “pequeño” tapas (omelets, pastries, you name it—if it’s tiny and tasty, Xicala has it), moderately priced Spanish wines by the glass, and a weekday happy hour. This intimate wine and tapas bar is frequently packed with a hip, young, neighborhood crowd; and by “packed” we mean there are about 45 people inside—when we said Tom Cruise-small, we weren’t exaggerating. Still, Xicala is oozing forth with palatable dishes and warm, friendly service, proving, yet again, that it’s the little things that matter. |
