Zamaan Bar & Restaurant:
The only hookah bar in the Williamsburg area, Zamaan is a non-pretentious neighborhood spot to relax with a small group of friends. Despite being situated under the J train, the interior is insulated from the noise of passing subways and filled with sweet smoke, dim red lighting and Middle-Eastern décor. The hanging iron lamps and comfy couches set the scene to enjoy 36 flavors of hookah with the option of fresh fruit (try the Arabian Nights—jasmine, grape and lemon) before topping off the night with specialty cocktails comprised of home-made purees and infused vodkas like the Love Martini (triple sec, vodka, blueberry, passion fruit and blood orange puree). The wooden lounge chairs, heat lamps and retractable roof make the backyard perfect come warm summer nights. While Zamaan does follow the slightly tacky pattern of most hookah bars (too much gold paint and an unrequited love for Aladdin), it’s a good excuse to escape the city rush and have the Arabian staycation you've always wanted.
