Lovers of Moroccan and Middle Eastern food need not journey far in New York—just head to this exotic late-night lounge in Hell’s Kitchen. Sure, there’s spillover from the theater crowd, but on Thursday nights, hip locals gather around the huge circular fireplace for after-after-work drinks (or to gawk at the waitresses clad in sarongs). Small tables surrounded by suede chairs and tiny red ottomans offer comfortable seating on which to enjoy the African, Arabic, and Italian-inspired menu. Weekends tend to be crowded, so stop by during the week to rock the casbah in comfort. Now if could just convince that group of lovely ladies in the corner to join your harem.
I usually shy away from themed anything, especially bars, but this Moroccan lounge was anything but cheesy. In fact, it is one of the sexiest haunts I have been to in awhile. I went with a big group of my girlfriends, all of whom could not have been happier with the service, surroundings, and excellent cocktails. Now, if only the gauking guys at the bar could be as friendly and well mannered as the staff...
