Zebulon:
This little French bar has all the makings of the perfect date spot—dim lighting, a broad drinks selection (Campari and grappa fans rejoice), and music loud enough to excuse you from having to talk to one another for any serious length of time. Best of all, the clientèle lacks the cooler-than-thou vibe most ‘burg joints exude. Instead, Zebulon caters to a laid-back crowd that comes for live music while nibbling on small plates like paninis, salads, and charcuterie. Nightly performances tend to reflect the 45 record sleeves that border the walls—anything from jazz to Afro beat to folk, and don’t worry about a cover—the musicians work for tips. Let’s just hope the neighborhood’s faux-hemian elite doesn’t suddenly deem this place hipsterrific.
A fine place to get away from the neighborhood zombies. When there isn't a band playing, they play great old jazz records on the turntable. Highly recommended for mature audiences.
