| Irish bars aren’t typically known as being very sexy places, but don’t tell that to Downtown Galway Hooker. Sure, the “Hooker” there is in reference to a boat—just like the original—but this place might get you in the mood to go down(town) anyway. The swank third floor features some very canoodle-worthy alcove seating and a sprawling chandelier presiding over the mahogany bar far below. The second floor has your billiards needs covered, while the ground floor provides dining in the glow of five flat-screens. But a mere sports bar it’s not, so don’t expect 50-Cent Wing Night. Instead, the menu provides fresh, inventive twists on standard pub fare, including a tasty grilled Italian sausage with cucumbers and tomatoes ($8), as well as the giggle-worthy “Hooker Chicken,” which is marinated in sherry mushroom sauce and roasted potatoes ($15). |
